Come, embark on a voyage towards a brighter horizon, under the guidance of an experienced Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. With my roots spread across the sunny California coast, the historical allure of Massachusetts, and the charming landscapes of Rhode Island, I've been nurturing a diverse skill set in the Mental Health field since the year 1992.

In a twist that even I didn't quite see coming, I leapt wholeheartedly into the role of a full-time Psychotherapist in 2016. Why, you ask? Because at the heart of everything I do lies a commitment to transformative healing, a dedication to stir profound, positive change in the lives of my clients.

My own journey has been quite the adventure, marked notably by earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, with a flair for Trauma Therapy and Military Social Work, from the acclaimed University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Imagine a mosaic of robust academic knowledge intertwined with substantial hands-on experience, both in providing individual therapy and orchestrating a team dedicated to the same. That’s me – a compassionate and skillful practitioner, attuned to your unique needs and narratives.

My areas of expertise? They dance around anxiety, depression, grief, the intricate tango of relational challenges, major life transitions, trauma, and assisting clients adapting to challenging health diagnoses. My therapeutic approach? Picture it as crafting a partnership imbued with compassion, respect, self-esteem, and resilience – a beautiful blend that mirrors my belief in every individual's ability to lead a rich, fulfilling life.

As a United States Veteran seasoned with multiple deployments, I share a deep, personal understanding of the intricacies of Military and Veteran life. This empathy extends to treating individuals caught in the web of physical, emotional, or combat-related trauma. EMDRIA trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Psychotherapist, I create a space that’s both nonjudgmental and supportive, a sanctuary for your healing journey.

My advocacy for mental health is not just a role, it's a passion. I emphasize the transformative power of EMDR Therapy in confronting past negative experiences, anxiety, depression, and a spectrum of other challenges. Taking that brave step towards seeking assistance is not just commendable, it's heroic. And here I am, ready and eager to support you on your journey towards healing and growth. Together, we'll collaborate, empowering you to regain control of your life’s narrative and stride confidently towards a future that's vibrant and fulfilling.

Let's connect. Dive into the heart of your dreams, wade through the tides of your challenges, and sketch a path towards a positively transformative journey with me. Remember, the quest for a richer, more rewarding life starts with one daring leap forward. Go on, take the plunge.

Mental Health Therapy

Depression and Anxiety often stem from unresolved trauma or deeply integrated patterns of fear, hopelessness, or powerlessness. Both attuned listening and careful integration of psychotherapy can help a client shift to a more calm and stable way of interacting in their world. Our lives are so often filled with stressful experiences. It is helpful to build an understanding of how to move through stresses in a more adaptive way. This includes how to calm the body during stressful experiences or how to direct thoughts to create a healthier framework for facing stressors while building healthier relationships.

EMDR THERAPY

EMDR is a powerful psychotherapeutic approach that helps lessen, and perhaps even eliminates, the painful mental and physical responses raised by the memory of traumatic events.

WHAT IS EMDR?

The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) has a great answer to this question on their website (www.emdria.org).  According to EMDRIA, "EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue, or homework between sessions. EMDR, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. Part of the therapy includes alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies."

HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?

This depends on the person and what they are hoping to get out of therapy.  I will meet you where you are, meaning I don’t have an agenda or a preset amount of sessions that we will work together.  Sometimes people come to therapy for a specific issue they would like help problem solving and it can be accomplished in 4-6 sessions.  Other times, people seek therapy for a longer period of time.  I have seen clients for a few sessions up to a couple years.  Additionally, you may find that you want to take a break and come back when you need it again.
